A Letter from the CEO
At Hellwig Products, taking care of our customers isn’t just a value—it’s our legacy.
For four generations, starting with my great-grandfather, our family has taken pride in putting the customer first. That tradition continues today with every member of the Hellwig team. We’re passionate about building products that bring more comfort, control, and confidence to your driving experience.
We love knowing that what we make helps you go to beautiful places—and supports your journey along the way. It’s what gets us up each day and keeps us inspired.
Thank you for your interest in Hellwig Products. We’re honored to be part of your adventure.
With gratitude,
Melanie White
OUR STORY
Hellwig Products was founded in 1946 after World War II and has remained family-owned and operated to this day, manufacturing all of its steel products in California’s Central Valley. In an era when many companies have moved production of their products overseas, Hellwig has remained steadfast in its commitment to produce its products in America. Thanks to Hellwig’s commitment to quality manufacturing and research, and development, it also produces sway bars and other suspension components for companies that are looking for the very best. Hellwig has also helped to grow and develop the automotive aftermarket as a founding member of SEMA, having attended the first-ever SEMA show in Los Angeles in the basement of Dodger Stadium.
MEET THE GENERATIONS
Rudy Hellwig first came up with his idea for the Hellwig Helper Spring after seeing cars and trucks with heavy loads sagging under the extra weight. This led to unsafe changes in the handling and likely caused a lot of accidents. Rudy manufactured his Helper Springs at night in his shop and would sell and install them in a customer’s driveway with the help of his son, Don. Don Hellwig’s son Mark serves as the vice-president of Hellwig Products, which has been a family business for over 75 years. In addition, Melanie Hellwig White is the CEO of Hellwig Suspension Products as well as a fourth-generation Hellwig. With our American roots, we are proud to be a woman-owned and operated business.
